THE #PREPOSTGRADDIARIES: INTRODUCTION

Welcome to the #Pre-Post-Grad Diaries ✨

Hi! I’m a senior at Texas Tech University studying Digital Media & Professional Communication with a certificate in Event Planning. I’m currently in my final stretch of college, and instead of quietly rushing through it, I’ve decided to document it in real time.

Right now, I’m working as the Student Recruitment Assistant at the College of Media & Communication at TTU, and I’ll be here until I graduate in August. Alongside that, I’m actively applying to jobs, organizing my search through a spreadsheet, networking with professionals, taking car of myself and my dog, planning my move, maintaining my content creation goals,
and trying to secure interviews with the goal of landing a job in the DFW area before graduation.



At the same time, I’m also trying to do something that feels equally important: actually live this last chapter of college. I’m trying to enjoy my last summer in Lubbock, be present with my friends, and appreciate the in-between moments that I know I’ll miss later.

This series exists for a few reasons.

First, to brain dump. I want a space where I can be honest about what this transition actually feels like—exciting, overwhelming, uncertain, and motivating all at once.

Second, to document this journey for myself. I know I’ll want to look back on this season someday and remember not just what I did, but how I thought and felt during it.

Third, to hopefully help someone else who is also figuring it out. Post-grad life can feel like a weird limbo, and I know I’m not the only one navigating it.

And lastly, to gain visibility as I share my journey publicly. I’m learning, building, applying, networking, and creating in real time—and I want to bring people along for that process, including recruiters and professionals in my field.

So this is my Pre-Post Grad Diary.

A weekly reflection of becoming, transitioning, and learning who I am outside of college—while I’m still in it.

#PREPOSTGRAD DIARIES: THE FIRST DAY

  Tomorrow, I wake up for my first day as a full-time employee at Texas Tech University. Typing that sentence still does NOT feel real! Just a few weeks ago, I was assisting with orientation at the College of Media & Communication, walking across campus in Lubbock between classes, lounging at the TTU Rec Pool, making coffee before work, and wondering where I'd be after graduation. Now, I'm back in Dallas. The boxes are starting to get unpacked. My closet somehow survived the move. My calendar is already filling up. And tomorrow morning, I'll drive to my first full-time job. #PREPOSTGRAD DIARIES: RECENTLY IN LUBBOCK

Lately, life in Lubbock has felt like a strange mix of celebration, nostalgia, pressure, gratitude, and excitement all happening at once. I feel like I’m living in this weird little in-between season where everything is changing, but not all at once. Some people around me are already walking across stages and stepping into their next chapter, while I’m still preparing for mine. And honestly? I’m learning there is something really beautiful about that space in between. Recently, I got to watch my best friend, Maddy, graduate with her BSN. Watching someone you love reach a milestone they worked so hard for is emotional in the best way. I felt so proud of her and also strangely reflective about my own timeline. Graduation season has a funny way of doing that! It reminds you how quickly life moves and how important it is to celebrate the people beside you while still honoring your own journey.
